LISC believes that community development corporations (CDCs) are one of the best vehicles to achieve lasting and positive community change for the benefit of low and moderate income people. The CDC "industry" has grown enormously over the past decade. According to the National Congress for Community Economic Development, there are currently 3,600 Community Development Corporations (CDCs) in the United States. This represents a 64% increase since 1994.
